Ever felt you would like to fulfill your ambitions beyond the school run? That you would like to find a balance between parenthood and work? I believe that we all have individual skills and talents - which can be utilised within the hours available to us as parents.

My story started two years ago after my first second child. A period of time out of the workplace and a realisation of the barriers in returning in the hours available. I started to become very aware of the impact of not utilising my skills/brain and not connecting with the wider world was having me. I felt a sense of apathy setting in, a disconnection.

I very much felt drawn back to the working world, but my daughter was only 6 months old and I only had 1 hour or so a day to re-connect. But I felt that within that hour I could do so much – that there needed to be place that utilized these skills that I wanted to offer (to benefit me) but also charities, the business world, business startups, mentoring.

It was around this time that my son started at school and I became very aware of the talent drifting from the schoolgates. I would often ask the question – what did you do before having children and people almost looked shocked - one mother said to me no one had asked her this in 10 years!

So together with a sense of personal frustration, need to create another way for myself that enabled me to be with the children but also continue on my journey – I created Beyondtheschoolrun.com – the place to engage, inspire and connect parents with the wider working world in the hours available to them.

The website, which re-launched last week, provides a place to help parents unlock their talents in the hours available – be it setting up a business; re-training; re-gaining your health; finding a job.

Since launching the enterprise I have been invited to Downing Street twice and was recently honored to win ‘Britain’s Top Real Role Model’. 

Join me on what is an exciting journey – together we can showcase our collective skills; support one another to grow and show the world there is another way that can work for us all.

That collectively and individually we can make the greatest difference to our lives and the lives of other.
