When I look back over my life I count my blessings before my achievements. I learnt the beauty of that word from a big, black lady at a bus stop. We had just missed our bus and another came along almost immediately and I said we are lucky! She turned and it was if she had wrapped her arms around me and held me close and said, 'no my darling we are blessed.'.  And we are blessed.  To achieve professionally can give one happiness but to love and be loved is a special happiness. But it is most important to love, recognise and be proud of the person who you are.

I have lived a life where I have loved and been loved, supported a family - which was for survival not for fun but somehow I had fun!  You must enjoy what you are doing - how else can you achieve your full potential.

Do achievements equate to only financial gain, for to achieve, does one have to be selfish and can we, if we are mothers, wives and partners as well, always give the necessary 100%.

Be very proud of all you achieve, but take time to know the person that you are and be proud of that person.
