  • Three things I've learnt in three years
    Entrepreneurship

What a night!!!

As a quick snapshot of our amazing third anniversary, Simona, our Chief Energy Officer, spoke to us about the three things she's learnt in the three years and we wanted to share it with you.

Smile in the face of cynicism

Over three years I’ve learnt not to take cynicism personally. I’m not talking about constructive criticism that presents solutions, but the debilitating roadblocks of negativity that impacts success. Having an idea and making it fly is a very personal journey, it envelops your heart and soul, and to begin with I found people who were cynical difficult to face. Probably because entrepreneurs, in their very make up, avoid conflict and failure. Their guiding motto must be upbeat and positive. Now when I bump into cynicism, it makes me more passionate. It no longer makes me doubt.

The extraordinary is in the ordinary

Truly. Every day I am left in awe of the stories I hear. The unexpected. The heartwarming and heartbreaking. The miraculous. I feel the weight of responsibility to connect stories that should be together. It’s like bringing long-lost relatives back into a family. The world is full of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and it makes me happy that we’ve created a way of getting their stories heard. It’s why going digital is so important to me. It will allow countless more stories to be intertwined allowing more extraordinary into the ordinary.

Flexibility

There is power in flexibility. I’m proud our business is growing, but with the understanding that everyone involved needs flexibility to maintain harmony in their lives. We accommodate life’s ups-and-downs in our stride, remembering everyone involved in Hub Dot is part of a community that supports and nurtures each other. Children fall ill, cars break down, life happens. We all know this only too well and refused to become a business that forgets the human behind the email address.

I too thoroughly enjoyed my first Hubdot. I cried, I laughed. Marvellous! Can I please make a suggestion? How about sending a list of the brave souls who spoke at the event with relevant contact details. There were so many interesting people speaking, its hard to remember them all. Thank you Hubdot I'll be back! x
